Coaching Experience and Achievments: It is rare that you get the opportunity to play for three great coaches at the college level. Guided by their examples, I was able to combine different coaching philosophies and form a foundation for my own coaching. After graduation, I returned to NJ lacrosse with a mission to make my players more knowledgeable about the game that I really knew so little about when I embarked on my career.
I have posted winning records, have built, turned around, and significantly strengthened programs (Seton Hall Prep; Livingston) and have coached teams to the NJ state championship tournaments. (Seton Hall; Delbarton, Summit)
Founder of Celtic Lacrosse Girl’s Division. Directed and coached numerous small group developmental sessions in NJ. I have taken an entrepreneurial approach to Lacrosse camps, organizing and executing dozens of camps in the last decade at institutions including:
The Seton Hall turnaround: I moved on to Head Varsity job at Seton Hall Prep in 2002 after they had come off three losing seasons. I had my work cut out for me. I took a very inexperienced Pirate team to the Semi-Finals of the Catholic Schools tournament and the State tournament a year later with a 10-9 record after adding tougher competition to the schedule.
In 2004, I was an Assistant Coach at Summit HS, and helped the Hilltoppers win the Iron Hills, Union County Tournament and get to the State Finals. Final top 5 Star-Ledger ranking.
Livingston High School: I took over a program that was 0-17, and was considered one of the worst teams in New Jersey Lacrosse. I saw a huge challenge present itself. After only my third year in Livingston, we finished with a 14-7 record (two one goal games in OT) separating us from a 16-5 campaign. This LHS team was one of the best teams in Livingston Lacrosse's history. We made it to the second round of the State Tournament, a feat that has not been done in Livingston for over a decade. I have coached several, All-State and a dozen of all risk division players.
During college I played for three of the top teams in the country at the Division I and III levels: Loyola, Syracuse, and Washington College. All ranked in the top 5 in the nation.
Loyola: As a freshmen in the 1990 season, I was part of a great team, one of the best ever in Loyola’s history. I played close defense for Dave Cottle's Greyhounds. We lost in the National Championship game to one of the greatest Syracuse teams ever assembled. (Final National Ranking - 2nd In the Country)
Syracuse: In 1991, I transferred to powerhouse Syracuse University to play for legendary coach Roy Simmons Jr. – head of the finest Lacrosse program in the country. Syracuse was truly the gold standard, and it was invaluable development: I got to play alongside some of the best athletes in the country, and I got to observe the best coaching possible – experience I carry with me to this day. (Final National Ranking, 1991 - #3 in the Nation, 1992 - #2 in the Nation)
Washington College: In order to get more time on the field, I agreed to play for Washington College, and another highly-regarded coach: Terry Corcoran, who had coached Team USA in the World Games and numerous trips to the NCAA Div III championships. At Washington I started at close defense and helped bring the Shoremen to the NCAA Semi- Finals in 1993 and the NCAA Quarter Finals in 1994. (Final Ranking - #5 in the Country) (Team Captain).
